I know I haven’t posted many recipes lately… Been going through a lot of adjusting with my new job, etc. But now I’m back!!
Also, Paul got a Wii Fit last week… its a lot of fun and a bit of a wake up call. While I was not under the impression that I was thin and fit (I have been in the past and so I know when I am NOT), it made me realize that I need to watch my calories more and drink more water.
Anyway, so with the arrival of spring and summer, what better way to get healthy than to eat the fruits and veggies that are in season?! This weekend, Paul and I went to the Sunset Valley Farmer’s Market and came home with wonderful things!
Blackberries! I found a farm here in Austin where you can go pick your own blackberries… I called them and said I should really wait about a week to have a good variety of the berries… I plan on doing that VERY SOON.
While it isn’t a Parker County peach, its a yummy, juicy peach nonetheless!!
They are just so pretty… I got about 12 peaches for $5.
OK OK OK so it might be just a LITTLE bit late for strawberries (I got these at HEB) but I just thought they were so pretty.
I didn’t get the okra at the Farmers Market… the only okra they had was pickled. But I got the carrots, the corn and the tomatoes. I can’t wait to make my favorite summer dinner… fried okra, roasted corn on the cob with thick slices of fresh tomatoes with a little salt and pepper! YUMMY!
I also picked up two more potted herbs… Now I have basil, chives, thyme, cilantro and Italian flat leaf parsley.
oh ya! and my new Cherry Tomato plant!!!!!
Here is what we have so far… I will keep posting the progress!
So we came back with some treasures… I will post some more recipes soon…
HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!
